Brockton, Massachusetts – On Monday, a delegation from United Way of Mass Bay visited Haitian Community Partners Foundation (HCP) as part of the implementation of a housing program for Haitian migrants.
Comprising five members, the delegation first visited the administrative offices of Haitian Community Partners on Legion Parkway in downtown Brockton. They were warmly welcomed by Marline Amédée, CEO and co-founder of HCP, along with Karlene Derozier, President of the Board of Directors, and Muradieu Joseph, Secretary of the Board.
The primary objective of the delegation’s visit was to gather detailed insights into the various aspects of HCP’s execution of the Safety Net Shelter grant program. This initiative, launched in early November 2023 by the Healey-Driscoll Administration in partnership with United Way of Massachusetts Bay, aims to provide alternative housing solutions for families and pregnant women who have no other shelter options.
Since February 2024, Haitian Community Partners Foundation has been one of 16 non-profit organizations to receive financial grants from United Way of Massachusetts Bay. This funding supports the establishment of housing sites in the Brockton area, specifically designed to accommodate 11 Haitian migrant families (a total of 26 individuals) who arrived in Massachusetts last year.
Haitian Community Partners Foundation is dedicated to supporting these families by offering safe and stable housing, thereby helping them transition into their new community and begin rebuilding their lives. The visit from United Way of Mass Bay underscores the collaborative effort and commitment to addressing the housing needs of Haitian migrants in the region.
