UNDERSTANDING THE CHALLENGES
Migrants, including individuals and families who relocate from other countries or regions within the United States, often navigate considerable obstacles in accessing healthcare, social services, and adequate living conditions. These challenges can lead to significant health disparities, making equitable healthcare access a pressing issue of compassion, public health, and social justice.
Our Approach
- Advocate for Policy Change: HCP actively supports legislation like “Cover All Kids,” which seeks to provide comprehensive MassHealth coverage to all young adults under 21, irrespective of immigration status.
- Facilitate Access to Healthcare: We work to ensure that migrants have the information and support they need to navigate the healthcare system effectively.
- Address Social Determinants of Health: Recognizing that health is influenced by factors such as housing, employment, and education, our program also focuses on improving these critical areas for migrants.
Key Components of the Program:
- Legislative Advocacy: Lobbying for policies and legislation that promote health equity and access for migrant populations.
- Community Outreach: Conducting outreach programs to educate migrants about their health rights and available services.
- Partnerships: Collaborating with healthcare providers, legal services, and other organizations to create a network of support for migrants.
- Health Education and Resources: Offering workshops and resources on health topics specifically tailored to the needs of migrants.
