HCP’s 2021-2022 partners with the Old Colony YMCA on Gun Violence Prevention

“The MA Department of Public Health’s Gun Violence Prevention, Intervention, Treatment and Recovery Services program (GVP) is a two-year pilot focused on individual- and community-level interventions for 17–24-year-olds who live in communities that are most affected by gun violence. Serving primarily African American and Latinx youth, the program applies eight core principles centered on racial equity and trauma-informed care to guide grantees to provide comprehensive services to youth and to address the root causes of gun violence in their communities.” –MA DPH.  HCP was excited to be a partner in gun violence prevention in Brockton.  Our Youth Ambassadors were exceptional in working with their peers focusing on behavioral modifications to prevent violence and in providing emotional support for those who are unfortunate victims of any violence.

Youth Ambassadors received gift cards for doing the hard work in tackling violence among their peers.
